Just right now ‘Magic’ seems to be a popular song title! Earlier this month we enjoyed a slice of ‘Magic’ from CENTRIC (aka Christopher Louray Mandujan), now a team going by the name HITSHACK offer us a very different ‘Magic’ trick!
We first came across Hitshack earlier this year via their single ‘Perfect Love’. We learned that Hitshack was a US collective – part of Orlando-based production company Hitshack Entertainment, where the masterminds are husband and wife team, Brian K. Morgan and Katie Goulet. Brian is sought after multi-instrumentalist/producer and artist while Katie is a lyricist/producer/artist /bassist They’s previously worked as B & THE FAMILY (you may remember their Chic flavoured ‘A Good Time’).
Now as Hitshack, the couple deliver ‘Magic’ – aided and abetted by vocalist Walter Christopher. Young Walter hails from Harlem and has a CV that includes work with people like Keith Sweat, Oleta Adams, Boys II Men and Mikki Howard. He’s also worked on TV and is a popular performed in and around the NY club scene – oh and he has four solo CD albums to his name.
With that shed load of experience you’d expect this trio to deliver – and they do!. Their ‘Magic’ is an insistent, driving, contemporary soul groove with a catchy title hook and funky undertow!
