One of the most welcome “comebacks” of recent years has been the return of PHIL EDWARDS with his new collective , PARADISE PROJEX. Phil is a real vet with a CV that goes way back so nor surprise that the music he made with his new team was quality, Brit soul with its roots in soul’s storied past.
One of PP’s most acclaimed new tracks was the gorgeous ‘Magic Night’. It was the lead-off single from the band’s album, ‘I Am You’ and it was rightly a soul chart rider and sold out its vinyl edition.
If you want more, then the track’s back with us in a new mix – dubbed “Judy’s mix”. We’re guessing that the name is a homage to the vocalist on the song – Judy La Rose who sadly passed away during sessions for the album. The new mix looses nothing of the magic of the original, just adding a little more urgency. It comes in a full length version, a radio edit and the instrumental and if you still hanker for the sounds of EWF, maybe Rotary Connection and/or Fifth Dimension – albeit with a modern twist, you’ll need to investigate this one. The label is Expansion.
