MORE DEJA VU!

It was Autumn 2020 when RANDY MULLER’S BROOKLYN GROOVE MACHINE delighted us (and secured a UK soul chart hit)  with their ‘Déjà Vu’ – an unashamed disco throwback – heartfelt homage to  Salsoul and Studio 54. There were 2 fab mixes – “NYC Saxy” and “Philly Saxy”. Then there was a third mix …. a “London Mix” courtesy of top UK mixer Nigel Lowis. All great stuff.

Now we can let you know about a fourth mix – this one from the skills of Yvonne Turner  (who avid sleeve readers will know has worked on mixes for Whitney Houston, Loleatta Holloway, Willie Colon and many more). Randy and Yvonne have called this new mix “the Baby Powder” mix. No reason given but we can say that the tweak is a dancers’ delight – pumping 80s synth bass, Turner’s classic driving, dubby percussive vibe topped with syncopated jazzy piano work by Lenny Underwood and the same sizzling vocal. Nothing here not to like!

We could say the cut it offers “a  uniquely raw rhythmic-seduction to breakout the baby powder and bust a move” but you all know we like to avoid cheap cliché . Out now and recommended!
