The prolific SARGENT TUCKER (above) is back with us with a new single. It’s a surprising one too. You see it’s a cover of a soul classic… and what a classic – Marvin Gaye’s ‘Ain’t That Peculiar’.
You’ll know that dear Marvin’s original dates back to 1965 and it was his second million seller. It was produced by Smokey Robinson who penned the song with the rest of the Miracles and their guitar man Marv Tarplin who supplied the distinctive guitar riff on the track.
The good Sargent isn’t daunted by tackling such an iconic soul song. Indeed he tells us that if ever he was going to record a cover it had to be one of Marvin’s! And ‘Ain’t That Peculiar’ perfectly suits our man’s vocal and guitar style. He glides effortlessly though the vocals and delivers the familiar guitar riff with passion and aplomb! Yes a surprise but a wonderfully welcome one. Recommended!
