The mighty Motown label refuses to lie down. The latest epic from the Motown stable is ‘JOHN MORALES PRESENTS CLUB MOTOWN’ … a 2Cd set of 12″ mixes of classic 70s and 80s Motown dance tunes.
DJ and mixer, John Morales needs no introduction to club goers. Acknowledged as one the world’s top DJs he’s been allowed to work the classic Motown back catalogue and he’s come up with some real stunners.
Amongst the tunes that get given the Morales’ magic are The Temptations’ ‘Standing At The Top’ (the wonderful Rick James collaboration from their reunion album and featuring David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards and Eddie Kendricks), Lionel Richie’s ‘All Night Long’, DeBarge’s ‘Rhythm Of The Night’ and Diana Ross’ The Boss’. Moreover, like the Godfather of mixers, Tom Moulton, Morales doesn’t take liberties with the source material. He simply extends and enhances the magic that was always there… and to amplify the pleasure, all the original tracks were re-mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
This new album comes in two distinct formats – CD and vinyl. The CD pack offers 20 cuts while the vinyl double pack offers 2 discs with three cuts on each – these focus on the Motown divas… Teena Marie, Diana Ross, Tata Vega and Val Young.
