In May gospel-trained soulstress CANDACE WOODSON released the catchy dance cut, ‘Midas Touch’. (not the Midnight Star tune, nor indeed the Mamas Gun song). The song (subtitled ‘Ooh Ooh’) was written by Candace in tandem with Karey A Davis and the classy production was down to Lew Laing.
Sparse with a funky undertow, it was always a potential floor filler and now in a new mix it’s a 24-carat favourite to get everyone off the wall. The new tweak comes courtesy of mix maestro Nigel Lowis who keeps the aforementioned funk undertow, but adds some atmospheric Philly flavoured instrumentation underpinning Ms W’s wonderful soul-fuelled vocal.
The new ‘Midas Touch’ is already all over soul radio and it’s destined to be one of summer’s big tunes. It’s out now via www.discosoulgold.com
