JALEN HARRIS is a new name to us but in the US he’s built quite a reputation for himself in musical theatre – most notably playing Edde Kendricks in the Broadway and US tour of the Temptations’ musical, ‘Ain t Too Proud To Beg’. He’s also appeared in the ‘Lion King’ and he transfixed judges and audience on season 10 of Fox’s ‘AmericanIdol’.
Right now Jalen’s keen on building his own solo, singing career and, building on the success of his debut EP ‘ManneKin’, he’s just released a new single, ‘Mi Dulce’ (‘My Sweetheart’).
As the tile suggests, this is a Latin-flavoured tune though Mr H sees it as a celebration of his Caribbean roots. He says:” In this song, I get to share some of my Caribbean roots, from a Spanglish angle. I hope it makes everyone dance and sing about their ‘sweet” thing,’ With reggaeton driving the heart of this record, I hope it is loved not only in the Caribbean or the U.S., but all over the world.”
The song’s a proper Latin dancer and it’s easy to hear why young Jalen was picked to play dear Eddie Kendricks – he delivers the same, sweet sort of falsetto! Out now!
