The Shanachie label has developed a great knack of persuading classic soul stars into the studio and right now they’ve just achieved a real coup by getting PHIL PERRY to record a whole album with MELBA MOORE. The LP – ‘The Gift Of Love’ – gets a late September release and it really is an old school soul classic, featuring covers of ‘Optimistic’, ‘Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing’ and the SPINNERS’ ‘Sadie’.
