MEDICINE FOR MY SOUL!

FRED KINGDOM is a young soul newcomer. The 19 year old hails from London and he’s a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music where he studied Jazz Piano. He works live with a five piece band and they’re making quite  a name for themselves in and around the clubs of West London and on the strength of young Fred’s debut single – a strikingly soulful ‘Medicine’  – what West London is enjoying today, the rest of the world will be appreciating tomorrow!

To cut to the chase, ‘Medicine’ is a stunning debut. It’s a cocktail of all sorts of things. Fred readily admits that his dad’s vinyl soul collection (Stevie, EWF, Prince et al) had  a huge impact on him; Fred himself is a huge fan of people like Silk Sonic, Erykah Badu and D’Angelo; while, as we’ve said, he has a jazz background. All those influences (and more) can be heard on ‘Medicine’  – a tune that features a big production, catchy melody and hooks-a-plenty. Oh, and Fred’s soulful delivery isn’t half bad either!

The song’s message is “We’re each other’s cure for a sickness that I’ve come to know too well”  but it’s the overall soundscape that will grab you. ‘Medicine’ has its roots in 80s and 90s classic soul but it still sounds totally fresh and contemporary. Yes, recommended!

This one’s out July 26th via AWAL. Kingdom come!!! For sure!!!
