ETANA is the musical alter ego of US singer Shauna McKenzie and her latest single – a classy and quirky ‘Mr Jones’ is winning plenty of attention. The song is buoyant and optimistic – a fusion of all kinds of everything- notably R&B, soul, jazz, and reggae.
Somebody much cleverer than me described the sound as a cocktail of Marcia Griffiths, Etta James, and Miriam Makeba! A pretty strong recommendation in my book! By the way, “Etana” is the Swahili word for “The Strong One”… and this ‘Mr Jones’ is a real strong one! Out now!
