We wouldn’t normally feature MICHAEL BUBLÉ here at www.soulandjazzandfunk.com but followers of the funk need to know that the contemporary Queen of Funk – SHARON JONES – guests on MIKE’S new Reprise album, ‘Crazy Love’. She duets with him on the old DINAH WASHINGTON/BROOK BENTON hit ‘Baby (You Got What It Takes)’ and a great job she makes of it. Her DAP KINGS provide an authentic, real R&B backing and the boys cut a groove on BUBLÉ’S cover of the DRIFTERS’ ‘Some Kind Of Wonderful’. Other musicians featured on the LP include a-cappela group NATURALLY 7, star bassist BRIAN BROMBERG, guitarist DEAN PARKS and percussionist LENNY CASTRO, while the album’s other cuts include ‘Cry Me A River’, ‘Stardust’, ‘Georgia On My Mind; and VAN MORRISON’S ‘Crazy Love’ – which gives the album its titling.
