JAZZ N GROOVE are one of the top soulful house teams. The duo – Brian Tappert and Marc Pomeroy – first got together in 1992 and have worked under a number of names…. Urban Blues Project, Soulsearcher, Cleptomaniacs and of course Jazz N Groove. Boss business men too, the lads also established the Soulfuric label in 1996 and set up the hugely influential download store, Traxsource in 2004.
To honour Brian and Marc, DEFECTED RECORDS latest ‘House Masters’ album features the music of Jazz N Groove and their various aliases. As a matter of fact Defected’s first ever single was Soulsearcher’s UK Top 10 hit ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and that’s the cut that starts the collection off. Amongst the other 30 cuts are tunes like ‘Deliver Me’ – a firm favourite of Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles and remixes of music from people like Loleatta Holloway, Donna Allen and Louie Vega.
The release of the collection coincides with the acquisition by Defected of the entire Soulfuric back catalogue and over the coming months much more of their vital music will be reissued. Brian Tappert says: “Soulfuric means everything to Marc and me we believe Defected is the perfect home to introduce our music to today’s House audience. We look forward to this new chapter in our long and fruitful history.”
