Earlier this year we posted the good news that UK soul vet, RAY HAYDEN was resurrecting his OPAZ music project. That project was, of course, big in the 90s; you may remember things like ‘Don’t Say Nuthin’’ and ‘I Don’t Want It’. Ray had also worked (remixes and production) with people like Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Will Smith, Mary J Blige, Mica Paris and a certain Martine Girault.
Ray’s Opaz “comeback” has yielded several tasty singles and now Ray’s let us in on some more (really) good news. He’s finally rekindling his professional relationship with dear MARTINE GIRAULT. We could say he’s reviving it – but that would be a cheap shot and a disservice to their still lovely ‘Revival’!
Anyway, Ray’s working with Ms G on an album project – ‘Opaz Featuring Martine Girault – Rare Grooves Volume 1’ from which two tracks are winning release as tasters. They are a funky, urgent, tough ‘Bad At It’ and a sweet and lovely ballad ‘Just Wanna Feel It’. Both have a real retro flavour; the latter is particularly lovely and shows that Martine is still a contender. Both bode well for the album!
