MAKIN’ IT….

‘How Do We Make It? is the latest single from New Zealand jazz man MICHAL MARTYNIUK. Martyniuk, (born in Poland – now living in New Zealand) is a pianist, composer and music producer, who is a respected figure on the Antipodean jazz scene.

His recording debut came in 2016 with the album ‘Odyssey’. It was credited to “After ‘Ours” and was a collaboration with Nick Williams. More albums followed and, in their wake, Michal has won a hatful of jazz awards including 2nd place at the prestigious ‘Made In New York’ Jazz Competition.

For his latest project- the EP ‘Reconciliation’ – Martyniuk is moving towards a neo soul sound and you can sample what he’s achieved via the aforementioned ‘How Do We Make It?’ single, Helping our man deliver his ideas is UK vocalist Vanessa Freeman (4Hero, Nathan Haines and Bugz In The Attic) and she delivers a warmth and compassion that matches the message in the music…. the importance of kindness and self-empowerment – a message especially poignant amidst the current challenges in the world. Sonically, the track begins with some simple jazz piano figures (natch!) before developing into a classy neo-soul dance groove with a soulful house undertow.
