The UK’s Love Supreme Jazz Festival, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, has been announced for the weekend of Friday, June 30th to Sunday, July 2nd, 2023. It is hoped that the three-day festival, which takes returns to Glynde Place in East Sussex, will equal or even surpass the feat set by the 2022 festival, which brought in a record-breaking 60,000 people across the weekend.
Renowned for its musical eclecticism and hosting star performers from across the worlds of jazz, soul, R&B, and pop, the 2023 festival’s lineup will include the bassist/vocalist Thundercat, the veteran disco-soul group Shalamar, and the esteemed bass player/composer and former Miles Davis and Luther Vandross collaborator, Marcus Miller.
Other performers will include the US soul singer Candi Staton, who will also appear at the festival as part of her final run of UK live shows along with Ethiopian jazz legend Mulatu Astatke, gospel soul trio Gabriels, Blue Note alto saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, and the UK neo-soul singer-songwriter Pip Millett.
Says Candi Staton: “I’m completely thrilled to be performing at next year’s Love Supreme Jazz Festival. It’s a real honour to have been invited back and to have the opportunity to perform alongside all of these incredible artists. I can’t wait to reunite with my wonderful UK fans to celebrate 10 years of Love Supreme!”
