SUFIANO (real name Helder Da Costa Sufiano) is a Mozambique-born, but Denmark-based artist. So far this year we’ve enjoyed one single from him – a sweet, Latino thing, ‘Ridin’ High’ and trekking back, we discovered that back in 2015 he treated us to another lightly soulful dance romp, ‘Miami Heat Wave’.
For his latest offering Mr S moves effortlessly from Miami to Sicily, to deliver ‘Sicilian Love’. Musically this is similar to the tunes we’ve already had from him – light, dancers with “summer” stamped all over them – and gawd knows we could do with a little summer warmth right now!
The production and arrangement on ‘Sicilian Love’ are both particularly classy. There’s more than a hint of the classic Philly soul sound – hardly surprising, since the lovely arrangement is down to Philly veteran string man, Larry Gold! Listen up to a great sax break too. This one’s out now!
