MARK KNIGHT is a DJ, Grammy-nominated producer and label owner. The soulful dance community know him well; he’s been in the business for over twenty years and worked with plenty of big names. We’re told that Mr K is the second highest-selling artist on Beatport (the US based on-line dance store) and, as we’ve said, he’s headed up his own labels, notably Toolroom.
Right now Mark is launching a new imprint… FOOLS PARADISE and he’s getting it off the ground with a BIG TUNE! For the launch disc he’s teamed up with Australian Toolroom label mate, Sgt Slick and British powerhouse diva Beverley Knight. (You’ll remember that Mark and Bev worked together on the magnificent ‘Everything’s Gonna be Alright’).
The trio’s new collaborative effort is ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ – a huge celebration of true romance and blissfully, freely getting it on with your partner. Sonically this one ticks all the correct soulful house boxes… big beats, a sophisticated vibe, booming bass, funky guitars and sweet keys. It’s all topped by our Bev’s powerful vocal (remember she learnt her craft in gospel church… and it shows!).
Mark tells us that the Fools Paradise label will pay homage to the more funky, soulful, and vocal house music that he began with in the 1990s and ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ bears that out! Fools Paradise is lining up some big releases in the coming months – from people like Opolopo, Richard Earnshaw, Jay Vegas, Katy Alex, Lukas Setto and 80’s Soul Star, Jaki Graham.
