LOVE BRIDGE!

We were officially introduced to soul singer BOBBY HARDEN just last month. Then, we learned that Bobby was a real soul vet… one time  member of the Blues Brothers Band and a CV that includes work with  people like Steve Cropper, ‘Blue’ Lou Marini, Matt ‘Guitar’ Murphy and Eddie Floyd (of the Blues Brothers crew). All that then led to work with Solomon Burke, Ben E. King, Robert Cray and Delbert McClinton.

Bobby’s authentic take on classic soul then brought him to  the attention of Daptone and then to the Dala label, which was set up by  Billy Aukstik from the late Charles Bradley’s band.

The duo alongside Bobby’s backing group, The Soulful Saints, are gearing up to release Mr.  H’s much-anticipated album, ‘Bridge Of Love’ (due May). The  first single was a lovely retro-flavoured, boisterous, brassy ‘One Night Of The Week’ and Bobby   now follows that with another single taster for the LP. This time you can enjoy the set’s title track and “enjoy” is the only word we can use here. The song, ‘Bridge Of Love’ is just superb – soul music as it was and how it should be. The deep ballad (with a full production) will tug at your emotions in the way that tunes from icons like Phillip Mitchell, George Jackson, James Carr , Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Womack did back in the day. Yes, that’s how good it is!

Look, lets’ cut to the chase… this is proper soul music and we can’t wait for the album. Again, if we had “Record Of The Week” this would be it.
