LONG WEEKEND!

Multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/studio engineer and producer ALAN EVANS is a busy man. Just last week we profiled his Crushed Velvet and the Velveteers project and recommended their ultra funky ‘Good Thang’. You may well know that Mr E is also a founding member of Soulive and 1/3 of the Alan Evans Trio. As well as all that he’s one of the two members of THE 7 DAY WEEKEND combo. The other half is keyboardist Kris Yunker and they debuted a month or so back with the single ‘Mango Sunrise’ and, not ones to hang about, the long weekend duo have just issued another single… an intriguing, catchy cinematic ‘Lombok Sunrise’. The pair call their music “electrorganic” and it’s a far cry from the feisty funk of the Velveteers ‘Good Thang’.

Inspired by 60s and 70s film music, ‘Lombok Sunrise’  is perfect, top down cruising music… think Henry Mancini’s classic ‘Lujon’ on speed with a hint of Alan Haven’s ‘Image’ and you’ll be getting near to the sound of ‘Lombok Sunrise’… Lombok, by the way, is an exotic, Indonesian holiday isle but the tune will work just as well in Southport or Southwold! It’s out now on Vintage League Music and there’s an album on the way but in these strange times who know when!
