LIVING NEXT DOOR TO ALICE!

alt

ALICE VIOLA is an Italian-born jaz/neo soul/R&B singer/composer, and she’s currently busy promoting her debut solo album – ‘A Long Trip’.

Self-produced, the 11 tracker was recorded at the White Castle studios in Italy and many of the session players are those who work with the great Mario Biondi.

Reflecting her itinerant career, Alice sings in Italian, English and Spanish and the soundscape touches several musical bases – neo soul, R&B, reggae and lounge jazz. Indeed amongst the album highlights are two lovely lounge jazz excursions – the gentle ‘I’ll Take Care Of You’ (with some fine Chet Baker style trumpet from Franco Capiluppi) and the simple ‘Tra Me E Me’ (one of several Italian language songs on the collection)

The rug cutters will find much to please them on the clipped, stately modern soul beater that is ‘Scars’…. marginally tighter than the similar ‘Little Girl’. The reggae-inflected ‘Believe’ adds variety – clearly Alice has been looking at Amy Winehouse for inspiration here!

Ms Viola says that the long player illustrates the “the physical, intimate and artistic journey that I’ve made with my music”. See if you agree by checking out ‘A Long Trip’ at a download portal near you!
