To reitertate some good news, good news for lovers of that new wave soul sound that channels a sweet and lovely take on classic, 60s harmony soul! As we’ve previously posted, leading purveyors of that special sound, San Diego-based threesome THEE SACRED SOULS are preparing the release of a new album… ‘Got A Story To Tell’, due October 4th via Daptone.
The trio, (drummer/songwriter Alex Garcia, bassist/songwriter Sal Samano and vocalist Josh Lane,) have already treated us to one of the set’s tracks, a sweet, soaring, soulful ballad ‘Lucid Girl’. They now follow that with an equally splendid ‘Live For You’. Once again this is a showcase for Lane’s gentle falsetto (he’s a big fan of the Philly legends the Delfonics and the lesser known Philly outfit, The Fabulous Performers) while producer Gabriel Roth crafts a totally sympathetic backdrop that begins with a swirling guitar riff not a million miles away from Marvin’s ‘Mercy, Mercy, Me’. This one’s out now and comes recommended!
