One of this summer’s big underground soul hits was Synthonic’s ‘Do You Remember’ – a collaboration between keyboardist Kieron Garrett and London singer GRACE WALKER. Now, almost out of the blue, young Ms Walker is back fronting another soulful collaboration. This time she’s working with soul and jazz trumpeter PAUL JORDANOUS. Mr J is a veteran of the UK soul circuit; over the years he’s worked with plenty of big names including Rag N Bone Man and visiting soul royalty like Keni Burke and Jean Carne.
During lockdown Paul and Grace worked together on a new tune called ‘Thief in the Night’ – essentially a duet between Grace’s vocal and his horn playing, ‘Thief In the Night’ is a big soulful groove with a Brit style acid jazz undertow. It’s credited to JOP (don’t know why) and it’s good to go right now from all your usual music portals. We believe that there’s an album in the pipeline somewhere but no more info just yet!
