Brit soul fans will know all about guitarist NEVILLE “BREEZE” McKRIETH. He was a founder member of Beggar and Co and he’s gone on to work with Light of the World and The Brit Funk Association.
Right now our Nev (working as “BREEZE”) is striking out on his own with an album upcoming on Expansion. The collection’s called ‘Just Another Day’ and it’s slated for a December 6th release.
Breeze’s CV is such that he’s called on some special mates to help him flesh out his musical ideas. Thus on the album he’s joined by people like David Baptiste on saxophone, Kenny Wellington on trumpet and flugelhorn, Toby Baker, Peter Hinds and Luismi Valles on keyboards, Pat Clahar on saxophone, Rolando Domingo on trumpet, Camelle Hinds and Ernie McKone on bas and Billy Osborne on drums.
We’re told that in cutting the album, Breeze was influenced by the music of Caldera, the Crusaders and Santana and the LP’s two focus cuts – the smooth ‘It’s A Thing Called Love’ and the jazzy ‘Return To Valencia’ bear that out.
Of the music on the album, the guitarist says: “Many of the tracks were written about personal experiences while I was playing a jazz festival on the island of Phuket. This gave me the opportunity to musically extend and demonstrate my emotions and knowledge through the power of music and Jazz.”
