LIFE OF LUXURY…

Pandemic and any future restrictions permitting, the annual Blackpool LUXURY SOUL WEEKENDER is scheduled to take place between 7-9th January. As ever, the event will  be the launch pad for the accompanying compilation album and the 2002 LUXURY SOUL iteration is shaping up to be one of the very best.

As ever, compiler in chief Ralph Tee has lined up plenty of big tunes – some of the very best of the last 12 months alongside a few venerable classics. Amongst the featured cuts are Cornell CC Carter’s ‘Not Possible’, Will Downing’s ‘Say Yes’ and Jarrod Lawson’s ‘Be The Change’. Past masters are represented by things like Full Flava’s ‘Get Down Saturday Night’ .

Amongst the focus cuts is a delightful cover of the Spinners’ ever-lovely ‘There’s No One Like You’ from Poynt Of Vu. The group is a trio consisting of Stephen Thomas, Daniel Porter and Byron Woods. They have been singing  separately and together for over two decades, and for their lovely, respectful take on the song  was produce by keyboardist Mike Logan, Sr. (who’s worked with Will Downing). It’s a great tribute to the art of Thom Bell and the sound of the Spinners!

‘LUXURY SOUL 2022’  is a 35 track, 3 CD collection and can be pre-ordered via Expansion, Simply Soul and Soul Brother.
