‘Life Is A Song’ is the title of an upcoming album from garlanded house music don, DAVID MORALES and the native New Yorker’s all set to release the LP’s title track as a stand alone single.
The cut will be offered in two mixes (at present) and we need to say that the “Ol Skool” mix is absolutely gorgeous – contemporary, danceable soul music at its very, very best – hints of dear old Drizabone about the beats and rhythms, sweet Philly style vibes, catchy chorus and a soulfully committed vocal from Michelle Perera. The song was written by David alongside Josh Milan and our old pal Nigel Lowis, which probably explains the vibe and structure of this mix.
The second mix is (I’m presuming) the original Morales confection – the beats are way up there (though not frenetic) while the production’s full on – including strings and vibes in the Philly/MFSB fashion (Lowis again?) … classic soulful house, if you would.
Both mixes will be released on Morales’ own DIRIDIM imprint on January 28th (vinyl only) and all looking good for the parent album. And remember, if you like proper, contemporary, soulful dance music you really should check out the “Ol Skool” mix of ‘Life Is A Song’. Track of the year so far!
