LETTER FROM LEMAR

Everybody’s fave UK soul boy, LEMAR has just released his latest album and, as is often the way with artists at a certain stage in their careers, Mr L has included loads of classy covers in the collection.

The set is named for Lemar’s version of The Box Tops’ ‘Letter’ which was a radio hit earlier in the year of course. The album was recorded in East West Studios in L.A, where Sinatra recorded ‘My Way’ and Marvin Gaye made ‘Let’s Get It On’ … but undaunted by those ghosts, young Lemar has pitched right in and tackled soul classics from the catalogues of people like Sam Cooke (‘Bring It On Home To Me’) and Al Green (‘Love And Happiness’). Both tunes are album highlights and given a dash of soul credibility by the addition of legendary back up voices, The Waters.
