MICHAEL J MCEVOY is an Amercian multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer and film composer. In the soul world he’s best known for his work with Soul II Soul while avid sleeve readers will have seen the name alongside Ernie McKone as producers on all sorts of tunes, most recently John Reid’s ‘IOU’ and before that with people like the James Taylor Quartet, Teena Marie, Lalomie Washburn and Boogie Back Records
Michael is now stepping out on his own with the release of a gentle, Latin-kissed ‘Together’. He’s produced and arranged the track and also performs keyboards, guitars, bass and vocals with BVs from Jasmine Duxbury.
Michael says: “I wrote this song more than thirty years ago, when my wife and I first got together. I was going through a tough time and my wife was the angel in human form who helped save me from myself. It’s taken me a long time to record this track, hence the big live production with string and horn arrangements to give the song the lush feeling it deserves. Now and again, we all need a bit of romance.”
With those sentiments, Michael’s ‘Together’ is aimed fairly and squarely at the Valentines market – so it wins release (just in time) on Friday 10th February 2023 via Rezzonator Music.
