LET THERE BE NOTHING…

ELLA THOMPSON  is an Aussie blue-eyed soul singer  with quite a CV. She’s worked with the Bamboos, electronic duo GL and indie cult band Dorsal Fins and she’s currently working with top Antipodean label, Hope Street Recordings.

That pairing was responsible for Ms T’s last single, the Bamboos flavoured ‘Cool Down My Heart’. She now follows that with a more dramatic ‘Let There be Nothing’. The dramatic nature of the cut is probably down to the fact that Ms T tells us that the song (about leaving) was inspired by the TV series ‘The Sopranos’! You might recall that Carmela Soprano eventually left Tony. It was a difficult decision, but she felt she needed to make that big , big change.

Sonically, this one’s a builder – working up to a wonderful brassy climax. It’s hugely atmospheric with even a hint of ‘The Godfather’ theme at the end. Out now!
