It’s taken a long time but at last veteran soul and funk diva, MARTHA HIGH is all set to release a new solo album.
Ms High, of course, was a key member of James Brown’s legendary soul review…. for snapshots catch her on the 1968 live performance of ‘There Was A Time’ or singing the remarkable opening note on 1974’s The Payback’. Yes, she was with the Godfather for over 30 years – sharing all the highs and the lows.
Today Martha, aged just 71, tours with Maceo Parker’s band but latterly she found the time to get into a studio and record her own album…. ‘Singing For The Good Times’ which will be released in the UK on May 13th on Blind Faith Records. The album’s made up of 11 original songs and was produced by Italian soul man Luca Sapio and we will, of course, bring you a full review very soon!
