Legendary bass player LARRY GRAHAM is bringing his current ‘FUNK AROUND THE WORLD’ tour to London for a one-off gig. The show takes place at the Clapham Grand, St. John’s Hill, Clapham, London, on Tuesday 1 November 2011. Tickets are available from all the usual agencies.

LARRY, of course, was a key member of SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE and his signature bass style – which he called “Thumpin’ and pluckin'” – was integral to the SLY sound. GRAHAM’S slapping technique radically expanded the tonal palette of the bass and has been copied by countless bass payers ever since.

In 1972 he launched GRAHAM CENTRAL STATION – a funk band par excellence, then in 1979 he embarked on a solo career, specializing, it seems, in ballads with his ‘One In a Million You’ becoming an evergreen wedding song. More recently LARRY’S been working with PRINCE, resurrecting GRAHAM CENTRAL STATION to open for Mr. NELSON and it’s this new incarnation that he’ll be bringing to CLAPHAM.
