KRIS KRISTOFFERSON DIES…

Country music legend KRIS KRISTOFFERSON died on Sunday, 29th September. He was aged 88 and the sad news was announced by his family: “We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”

The Texan was a garlanded singer/guitarist/actor and from our perspective, a major songwriter. Many of his songs have been recorded by soul artists – most notably, of course, Gladys Knight who delivered a searing version of his ‘Help Make It Through The Night’ (Joe Simon also recorded it). Kristofferson’s ‘For The Good Times’ has enjoyed several soul covers – notably from Al Green and Isaac Hayes, while Thelma Houston recorded a moving version of his ‘Me And Bobby McGee’.
