KEKE WYATT is something of a soul veteran. She broke through 20 years or so ago with her ‘Soul Sista’ album which came hot on the heels of a chart riding duet with Avant, ‘My First Love’. Since those heady days Ms W has diversified her portfolio. Now she’s a top rated actress, reality show star and social media personality. Music however remains her first love (see what we did there!!!) and to that end last year she re-signed to Shanachie Records for whom she’s preparing the release of a new album.
It was back last Summer that we enjoyed the set’s first single, a lovely steppers’ thing, ‘Water Into Wine’. Well we’re still waiting for the album; but the good news is that it’s promised for a late June release and to whet appetites, the LP’s title track has been released. It’s a broody ‘Certified’ that sits sweetly on the cusp of contemporary soul and modern R&B and it augers well for the album about which Keke says: “Fans can expect some good ole Sanging honey!! I want to give my fans the gift of love, hope and trust with my new music. However, don’t get it twisted because I’m singing about it all. I think everyone will be able to relate to this album.”
