The unusually named dSteven is an indie soul singer/songwriter from the Washington DC area who’s gearing up to release his debut LP, ‘Love Is Waiting’.
In the meantime we can enjoy the set’s first single which pairs ‘Turning Me On’ with the album title track. ‘Turning Me On’ is a very tight, little head nodder with some electro FX under a convincing, mature soul vocal. Some soul purists might baulk at the midway rap but those beats more than make up for that.
‘Love Is Waiting’ is a meandering soul ballad allowing dSteven to show his vocal prowess and why, before her untimely death, Ms Aretha Franklin was so impressed with the singer/songwriter’s abilities.
