STEVEN THAD (real name, Stephen Leslie, Jr.) is a rising star on the US soul scene. Earlier this year we enjoyed his sweet and lovely ‘Do You Remember?’ – the lead track on a well-received three track EP. We learned at the time that Steven had a background in gospel – but you’d know that from his sound and style on the mini album. It was obvious that he’d had a thorough apprenticeship in gospel music. Indeed in 2020, Steven and his two sisters peaked at #28 on Billboard’s Gospel Top-100 Chart with their hit single, ‘Jesus Loves Me.’
After that plaudit, Mr T “went secular” and he now returns with an equally soulful outing simply called ‘Smile’ – which it will make you do!. (ouch!) You see it’s catchy and melodic and Steven’s vocal is classically soulful – svelte and sweet.
This classy and top notch little smiler will be good to go via Expansion , May 31st
