PROJECTIVE is an Irish music collective. The seven piece offer a Celtic take on Neo-Soul, Jazz and Hip-Hop which sells out halls and clubs throughout Ireland. The band line up like this – Leanne Curtin – Vocals; Ciara Stacey – Vocals; Diamond Nzekwe – Vocals/Trumpet; Abdul Saidi – Keys; Cian Harris – Guitar; Michael Riordan – Bass and Daniel Brazil – Drums.
Now, just in time for Christmas, they’re releasing a debut single – ‘Running’, which indeed is built from the above ingredients – Neo-Soul, Jazz and Hip-Hop!
Because of those varied components, the soundscape is hard to pin down. It all begins gently with layered vocal harmonies under an ethereal lead vocal. The cut then takes flight with drum and bass rhythms before an elegant rap flow kicks in. Intriguing!
The band’s spokesperson says: “Running is one of the first songs we wrote around the time that the band started. We wanted to write about the feeling of not being able to slow your mind down when it’s caught up in thinking negatively, be that about a relationship or another worrying situation in your life.”
PROJECTIVE: ‘Running’ out now!
