DJ MEME is a Brazilian multi-award winning remixer/producer who kick started his career via remixes for major artists like The Bee Gees, New Order and The Pet Shop Boys. That was back in the 80s… since then he’s worked with people like Shakira, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Dido, Ricky Martin, Des’ree and Frankie Knuckles!
Meme’s latest project sees him resurrect a real disco classic – Gino Soccio’s 1979 hit ‘Dancer’. If your memory goes back 40 years (!) you’ll remember it’s a futuristic disco groove and Meme’s new sweep retains that same kind of mesmeric vibe. The main feature is the pulsing bassline that throbs under candy sweet vocals from Gabriela Riley. If you like things even spacier, there’s also a cosmic dub tweak – stripped right down but effective its own way.
‘Dancer’ is out now on Traxsource promo / Full release May 10th 2019 on Memix Recordings.
