BENJAMIN RACE is an acclaimed UK based bass player and music producer. His first love is soul (a love he inherited from his vinyl-obsessed dad). Over the years, Ben’s worked with people like Alexander O’Neil, Soweto Kinch , the Doggett Brothers and members of Incognito and Jamiroquai.
As a producer, Mr R’s released music under his “HD” brand – with the 2018 album ‘Everything Is Energy’ winning plenty of support. Over the last 12 months or so, Benjmain’s put his own name out front on a couple of chart riding singles – the big, beefy, Weekender-flavoured ‘Take You Home’ (vocal from Ellison Kendrick) and the similarly “up” if a little gentler ‘Memories’ (vocal from Donna Odain).
Thus, we’re delighted to report that Benjamin’s lining up another tasty single for August 9th release. This one’s ‘No To Heartbreak’ and it shows that our man can “do” the slower stuff too! The tune’s a building groove with a sweet melody and catchy hooks. Vocalist this time around is Ricky Hanley (who, some of you might know, is the vocal arranger on something called ’The Masked Singer’) and if we tell you that Ben wrote the song with Full Flava’s Rob Derbyshire, you’ll know we’re talking proper Brit soul quality. Oh and wait for the delightful trumpet solo at the end – a gorgeous conclusion to the track!
