JUST ONCE IN MY LIFE!

The Ron Miller/Orlando Murden song ‘For Once In My Life’ is something of a standard. Written in 1965, we believe the first version was by Connie Haines though the first recording was by Jean DuShon. The wonderful Tony Bennett was the first to take it into the charts. Then, of course, along came Stevie Wonder and the rest…

Over the years the song has been covered countless times with the newest version coming from Italian band LOSTINWHITE. The band’s leader is Vittorio Bianchi (“bianchi” means white; he says his hair went white at an early age! Hence the band’s name). The singer likes to be known simply as “America” (real name Sofia Anessi). Their new version of ‘For Once In My Life’ is bright and breezy, channelling an acid-jazz feel with a hint of Swing Out Sister. It’s out now on Irma Records.
