SASHA DOBSON is a US cross genre singer who’s just released a new album, ‘Girl Talk’. The 10 tracker is winning plenty of attention chiefly because of the airplay being given to the title track on which Ms Dobson duets with Norah Jones – though “duets” is possibly too strong a word – Norah simply adds sweet backing vocals. A very pleasant recording, though!
The album’s other big cover is a new treatment of Nancy Sinatra’s ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’ – given a lovely and smile-inducing, lounge jazz treatment. Enjoy too, the new take on the Cuban standard, ‘Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps’.
The original songs (like ‘Softly As The Morning Sunrise’) offer plenty of interest and intrigue too.
