Forecast to be a big tune in the coming weeks is a very catchy old school groove called ‘Jukebox Lover’ from an artist who goes by the name TUCKA.
Tucka’s a new name to us but it seems he’s been on the scene since 2007 when the Louisiana-born singer fronted the Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band. Going solo in 2008, he built up a following in and around Louisiana, earning himself the nickname ‘The King Of Swing’.
Tucka has a number of recordings under his belt but it’s his current single, ‘Jukebox Lover’ that’s making waves. The cut’s a proper old school throwback proving that simple is often the best way forward for soul music. Mr T sings convincingly and in places his phrasing reminds me just a little of Smokey Robinson, though Tucka doesn’t do falsetto. Grab a listen to hear what I mean! Big thanks to Toby Walker of www.soulwalking.co.uk for unearthing this! Recommended!
