The legendary LEON RUSSELL, whose career spans five decades, is all set to release a brand new album. ‘Life Journey’, out on Universal on 19th May, has been produced by Tony LiPuma and executive producer is Elton John who collaborated with Russell on 2010’s acclaimed ‘The Union’
‘Life Journey’ is a 12 tracker that mixes new songs with well-chosen covers that include ‘That Lucky Old Sun’, ‘Georgia On My Mind’, ‘Fever’, ‘New York State Of Mind’ and a lush version of ‘I’m Afraid The Masquerade Is Over’ into which Russell cleverly incorporates elements of his own song ‘This Masquerade’.
Russell says: “This is a record of my musical journey through life. It reflects pieces of things that I have done and things I never did, for one reason or another. But now nearing the close of my adventure, I feel that I may be the luckiest guy in the world”.
