US media is reporting the death at age 66 of singer, JOHN DAVIES – known now to posterity as the real voice of hit making duo Milli Vanilli.
The duo was the creation of producer Frank Farian who paired models/”singers” Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus to be the face of his productions. They enjoyed hits with tunes like ‘Girl You Know It’s True’ in 1988 and following that with three straight US Number One singles (‘Baby Don’t Forget My Number’, ‘Blame It on the Rain’ and ‘Girl I’m Gonna Miss You’). It was of course later revealed neither Morvan nor Pilatus sang on any of the recordings – that was down to South Carolina born, Germany-based John Davis.
Davis’ daughter Jasmin confirmed her father’s death in a May 24th Facebook post, adding that he died from complications related to Covid-19. She posted “He made a lot of people happy with his laughter and smile, his happy spirit, love and especially through his music. He gave so much to the world! Please give him the last round of applause. We will miss him dearly.”
