Chicago’s redoubtable Dusty Groove Records kick off their 2010 campaign with the release of an album that’s a must for jazz collectors. ‘Insight’ by the PRINCE LASHA ENSEMBLE was recorded back in 1966 in England, where LASHA – the Texan-born sax man – was then living. The six tracker features an unusual line up – including two pianos (the incomparable STAN TRACEY and MIKE CARR) and a harp (DAVID SNELL), giving the music an exotic flavour – enhanced by LASHA himself doubling on wooden flute and plastic alto sax.
