  • JAZZ FM AWARDS – This Year’s Nominees Announced

The chart-topping UK soul singer Celeste along with the American jazz pianist/vocalist  Jon Batiste and veteran alto saxophonist Gary Bartz are just three of the stars named as nominees for this year’s Jazz Fm Awards, which are co-sponsored by PPL and PRS For Music. It’s set to return at the end of next month with a ceremony held at West London’s Under The Bridge venue on Thursday, October 28th.

Other nominees include the British tenor saxophone sensation Nubya Garcia, who’s helped put London back on the jazz map, together with the producer and DJ Floating Points and his recent collaborators,  the London Symphony Orchestra and tenor saxophone legend Pharoah Sanders; there are also nominations for UK trumpet maven Emma-Jean Thackray,  the London soul aggregation SAULT, the hotly tipped British-Italian singer Georgia Mancio and neo-soul songstress, Ego Ella May.  Yet to be announced are the nominees for three special and prestigious award categories:  the Lifetime Achievement Award, Gold Award and Impact Award.

Since its launch in 2013, the annual Jazz FM Awards has been one of the undoubted highlights on the international jazz calendar and in the past has honoured such bona fide legends of the genre as Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Dame Cleo Laine, Pat Metheny and George Benson.

Says Jazz FM Content Director Nick Pitts: “We are of course delighted that the Jazz FM Awards will return in 2021 to celebrate the incredible level of innovation, creativity and joy that the global jazz community has to offer. Jazz has provided a lifeline for so many of us over the last year and a half and we look forward to bringing everyone together again for what is sure to be a very special occasion.”
