Jazz FM, which is due to host its annual and eagerly anticipated awards ceremony, at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London on Tuesday April 26th has just announced a list of this year’s nominees. There are some impressive names among them, including much-vaunted jazz virtuosi such as KAMASI WASHINGTON, CHRISTIAN SCOTT and MARCUS MILLER, female singers JILL SCOTT, ESKA and LIZZ WRIGHT, international groups SNARKY PUPPY and HIATUS KAIYOTE and top UK musicians MATTHEW HALSALL, ZOE RAHMAN, BINKER & MOSES and SONS OF KEMET.
Public voting in three categories – Album Of The Year, UK Jazz Act Of The Year, and Live Experience Of The Year – opens today (February 24th) and closes on 31st March. It can be accessed by this link: http://www.jazzfmawards.com/
GREGORY PORTER, who is due to perform at the awards in April, is to be the recipient of a JAZZ IMPACT AWARD.
