Last we heard from the wonderful JARROD LAWSON was last March when he released a standalone single – his unique version of Prince’s ‘I Would Die 4 U’, released to tie in with his sell-out UK tour. So, we’re delighted to announce that the now Nashville-based, Mr L is gearing up to entertain us with a new song come July 26th.
Said song is a delightful, contemporary soul ballad, ‘Next Move’. Gentle and soothing, it’s actually a duet with fast rising Los Angeles vocalist Raquel Rodriguez (pictured). Though relatively unknown in the UK, Ms R is one of the most acclaimed West Coast independent soul artists. Some may remember her ‘ Mile High’ (a standout on 2019’s Expansion Luxury Soul compilation). Other tracks from her debut album ‘Sweet Side’ remains staples on playlists, on US radio stations.
A couple of years back Jarrod and Raquel came together to make music and though nothing came from the sessions at the time, the concept of ‘Next Move’ was born and Jarrod has since honed and polished it to create a harmony-laden blue lights in the basement ballad… quite lovely.
Jarrod and Raquel’s ‘Next Move’ is released via Dome, July 26th and leaked copies are already winning plenty of airplay and the song is already shaping up to be one this summer’s big ones! Mind you, as you probably know, Jarrod is one of Michelle Obama’s favourite singers. If he’s good enough for her, well, then…
