Though there are few details, US soul sources are reporting the death of JAMES DUKES JR. Dukes was the bass singer in 70s/80s vocal group Heaven and Earth (pictured).

The band were originally known as The Soul Majestics and they consisted of Dukes and his brother Dwight, Michael Brown and Keith Steward. Their biggest hit was the ballad ‘Guess Who’s Back In Town’. They recorded three albums  for Mercury but in a crowded market place they failed to enjoy major success and folded. Dwight Dukes went on to work with Philly group, Cashmere.
