Though few details are available, it seems that Florida-born soulstress JACKIE MOORE died yesterday, Friday, 8th November. She was aged 73.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she moved to Philadelphia as a teenager where she was signed to Shout Records. A move to Atlantic generated Jackie’s biggest hit ‘Precious Precious’ and though ‘Sometimes It’s Got To Rain’ was also a hit, real success eluded her and by the 80s she retired from music to raise her family.
In the UK and Europe, Ms Moore will be fondly remembered for her ‘Both Ends Against The Middle’ and ‘Sweet Charlie Babe’ both of which combined Philly sass and style with Southern passion and soul.
