DWAYNE SCIVALLY is a cult Nashville-based soul man. His status is based on two acclaimed vinyl albums which he released in collaboration with French muso, Thomas Gee. Both LPs revealed that Dwayne possessed a classic baritone – smooth and soulful in equal amounts and when the material was right the result was contemporary soul magic.
If you’ve not caught up with him yet, UK boutique label IZIPHO SOUL is offering you the chance to do just that with an upcoming vinyl 45 that pairs two track from Dwayne – one from each of those in-demand albums.
The putative A side is ‘Let Me So’ – an infectious slice of contemporary soul while the flip is an equally sweet and soulful ‘Is It Me’ which comes complete with a short intro monologue. Both tunes show that ex Sergeant Scivally (he’s a US Air Force vet!) is a real contender and, in case you hadn’t guessed, his background’s in gospel!
The Izipho label has another treat up its sleeve… simultaneous with the above release, they’re issuing another 45 which features two different artists. The disc’s top side come from ANTIONE HUTCHINS and it’s a big, gospel tune – ‘Be Alright’. You may remember that earlier this year, Izipho introduced us to the wonderful gospel music of Bishop Norman Hutchins via his inspirational ‘I Really Love You’ and ‘Blessing With My Name On It’, well Antione is Norman’s nephew and his ‘Be Alright’ is cut from the same soulful cloth as his uncle’s music! It’s a wonderful, optimistic stepper that will get to you even if you’re not a believer!
Flip this over to discover some more inspirational music , this time from NERO FOSTER with ‘He Reigns’. This one’s a little more up-tempo with a full on production that will get your hands in the air!
