Our O Level French (O levels predate these new-fangled GCSEs) tells us that the French phrase ‘C’est Si Bon’ means ‘It’s So Good’ and we could use that phrase to describe the latest single from SAY SHE SHE… their song is ‘C’est Si Bon’
You’ll know that Say She She is a Brooklyn band led by three female vocalists – Piya Malik, Nya Gazelle Brown and Sabrina Cunningham…. and that name? Well, the name Say She She, we’re reliably informed, is a tribute to their heroes, Chic… C’est chi-chi!: It’s Chic!”. All understood!
Thus this new ‘C’est Si Bon’ is an unashamed tribute to Chic in their early disco dancing days, though there’s also a distinct Parisian flavour (some of the song is sung en Franḉais!) The band’s team say the tune is “a discodelic anthem to cease the day and make your time count” . See if they’ve got that right when ‘ ‘C’est Si Bon’ is released on June 8th via Colemine.
If you’re a gig kind of person . Say She She are in the UK for a summer tour. Volia the dates! (see what we did there!)
